Looks like Kellie Pickler and Kyle Jacobs are sharing a January 1, 2011, wedding anniversary with Shania Twain and Frederic Thiebaud. A few days ago, all the buzz was about Shania and Frederic marrying on New Year’s Day on a beach in Puerto Rico. And now, everyone is talking about Kellie Pickler and Kyle Jacobs, who were also married on New Year’s Day. Their ceremony took place on a private island in the Caribbean.
Kellie and Kyle eloped, and were married in what is described as a “small, intimate ceremony.” People.com is also reporting that they have been dating since 2008, and were engaged on June 15, 2010, on a Florida beach.
"It was the most spiritual moment." Pickler, who got her start on American Idol, said of the proposal. "We would’ve gotten married that night had there been a preacher walking by!" [Source]
On Tuesday, Kellie tweeted: "Private Island. Caribbean. Cigar in one hand, Rum in the other. Someone just called me "Mrs. Jacobs."….sounds nice :)"
Like most TV watchers, I first saw Kellie on American Idol, and like most country music fans, I’ve been following her career ever since. I had an opportunity to see her on stage in September, 2008, at the Washington County Fair in Abingdon, Va. And I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by her performance.
I knew I liked her, and her music. But I was still very impressed with the show, and with the way she entertained that audience, It was just so much better than I expected. And that kind of surprise is always nice. You can see the article and photos from that show here.
If you haven’t seen Kellie’s show yet, you might want to keep up with her list of events on her web site. She is on tour with Rascal Flatts, and has a few shows listed right now, in Airway Heights, Wash., Tama, Iowa, Carlton, Minnesota, Las Vegas, Nev., Indio, Calif., and Biloxi, Miss… and I’m s ure she will be adding more soon.
Let me join the millions of well-wishers, and offer a big congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Jacobs!]
I’m headed over to the ‘in box’ to answer some e-mail. I know I fell really far behind with that during the holidays, but I’m hoping to get to a lot of you now. Have a great Wednesday!
