A name to remember, country singer Mary Sarah
Let me start by telling you all how much I know about Mary Sarah, 15-year-old country singer from Texas. Ok, that’s all I know. I found her on Twitter. She follows me there, and of course I followed her back. I’m not sure why I went to her YouTube page today, but I’m glad I did. That took me to ‘Google’, where I found her facebook page, and a little bit about her. But not as much as I would like to know.
Here’s what her short Bio on facebook had to say:
Mary Sarah completed a 40-city, KidzBop® World Tour as a featured soloist and ensemble performer in January 2008. A self-assured 15-year-old, Mary Sarah began performing at age eight in various regional events and venues. Not long after her debut, she entered vocal training with Tom McKinney Vocal Studios. Vocal training is a discipline she continues to undertake locally with Mr McKinney and Ms. Jane Turner of Rosenberg Music as well as when in Los Angeles with Lis Lewis of The Singer’s Workshop. Mary Sarah aspires to be "a voice for those who don’t have one." Currently Mary Sarah is in studio working on a full length album with noted producer Dwight A. Baker due out soon!
How many times have you heard me say – “If you want to know whether or not someone can sing, just ask them to do the National Anthem”. That song was definitely not written for just anyone to sing. When I visited her YouTube page, I almost immediately went to the video below, which was titled: “Texans Audition for the National Anthem.” Yep, this girl can sing.
I hope you will all visit her facebook page and listen to some of her music. Her music is a little country/pop, but not quite country/rock. She definitely reminds me of Taylor Swift, and I think the world has room for another Taylor. Facebook songs like “Permanent Marker,” “What About Me,” and “Hiding Place” seem to be great examples of what Mary Sarah does. “However, songs on her YouTube page show you that she can also handle anything from Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” to Connie Frances’ “Where the Boys Are.” You guys need to jump over to that page and listen to Mary Sarah. In fact, this young lady is on stage with The Oak Ridge Boys during that Connie Frances song. How cool is that. She even does Journey (“Don’t Stop Believing,” ) on her YouTube page.
There is so much great talent out there today. But I think Mary Sarah is right up there with the best of them. Hopefully, a little more time, and little more exposure, and a few more meetings with the right people will put Mary Sarah out there where she belongs. We all saw Justin Bieber go from YouTube to Stardom – who are we to say that won’t happen again.
I do encourage all of you to visit her pages and listen to her music. Let me know what you think. I’m certain I’m not the only one who is going to be impressed with this young lady. She’s made it easy for us to keep up with her. In addition to her facebook and Youtube channel, you can find her on MySpace, and follow her on Twitter.
That will do it for this morning. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! I’ll talk to you soon!
