It really wouldn’t matter how much time I had – hours, days, weeks…. It would never be enough time for me to tell you how impressed I am with Chris Young. Not only is he a fantastic singer and awesome entertainer – He is also one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I’ve been fortunate to have met Chris on more than one occasion. I’ve watched him stay for hours after a show, just to make sure everyone in the seemingly endless autograph line got the autograph and the photo they were hoping for.
Back in August, 2008, after one of his shows, he was heading to Louisiana, where he would be leaving on a cruise early the next morning. Louisiana is a very long bus ride from Tennessee. Even that wasn’t enough to make Chris cut that line short and send fans home disappointed. Colt Ford recently said that it is that kind of entertainer who impresses him most - and Colt, it’s that kind of entertainer who impresses me most, too.
Chris is on his way to Kuwait, where he will be entertaining our U.S. Troops. He will be there from today, April 13 through April 21. It isn’t his first trip overseas, and I know the troops will be very happy to see him return. If you have to be away from home, I can’t think of a nicer way to bring a little bit of home to you than to send you Chris Young. The tour is called, fittingly, “Piece of Home” tour. This isn’t something Chris has to do – it’s something he wants to do. I have so much respect and admiration for Chris, and artists like him, who give their time and talent to our servicemen and women over seas, who are working so hard there to protect our freedoms.
This will be his second tour to the area and his first performance in Kuwait. His initial tour was in October 2009, where he traveled with Craig Morgan and two wounded heroes, Staff Sergeant Scott Lilley and Sergeant First Class Joe Bowser. The visit was chronicled by GAC and is a television special titled “Stars for Stripes – Wounded Warriors Return.” In addition to entertaining troops overseas, Young serves as a member of the Board Of Directors for “Stars For Stripes.”
Chris is always busy – after the Kuwait trip, he will be getting ready to go out on tour with Jason Aldean as part of the “My Kinda Party” tour. His single, “Tomorrow, is quickly climbing the charts (no surprise there, I love that song); and his new album, Neon, will be released later this summer.
Time for me to get my day started. I hope you all have a great Wednesday! Talk to you all soon!
