I can’t say that I’m sorry to hear this. most of you know how I feel about everyone and anyone with a vocal cord thinking they can become a country singer. As fine an actress as Gwyneth Paltrow is, and as well as she did with her role in “Country Strong,” I still say – one movie starring opposite Tim McGraw does not make you a country singer.
I liked “Country Strong,” both the movie and the song. And I enjoyed Gwyneth’s performances on the CMA Awards, and the Grammy Awards and the Oscar Awards. But even with all that, I wasn’t thrilled when I heard that she was in contract talks with Atlantic Records. Now, however, I am very happy to tell you that Atlantic has reportedly taken their offer to Gwyneth off the table.
"Atlantic was not the only company pursuing her, and she still has not decided if she wants to record an album," a rep for the actress tells the New York Post, adding that it "is still something she is considering." So, there is still that possibility that she will be making country music for someone, I suppose.
When Gwyneth was on Ellen Degeneres’ show, she did tell Ellen that she hadn’t signed anything, but was thinking about recording. She is best known for her acting , and has a film coming out soon with Matt Damon, Kate Winslet and Jude Law, called “Contagion”.
So maybe it’s not quite time for Gwyneth to release a bunch of records and become a country super star… but maybe someday. I for one can definitely wait.
Talk to you all soon!
