I have a new CD to tell you all about today. It’s called Homegrown, and the artist is Brinley Addington. This CD is not my first taste of Brinley’s music. I have had the pleasure of seeing this artist live on several occasions.
Brinley opened for Jack Ingram at one of Kingsport’s Twilight Thursday night music events. In addition to Jack, Brinley has also opened for Marty Stuart, James Otto, John Michael Montgomery and Gavin DeGraw. He has performed at Pepsi’s Independence Day Fireworks celebration in Johnson City, Tenn, several times. I always enjoy his shows. He works a stage so well, pays attention to his audience, isn’t afraid to make eye-contact with fans, and enjoys talking to the fans from the stage.
The CD is really good. I listened to it several times since I received it. And I’m sure it will spend a lot more time in my CD player. One thing I like about Brinley is that he seems to know exactly who he is. His vocals and style are strictly his own. You don’t listen to him and think, “that reminds me of a young Garth Brooks, a young Josh Turner, or a young George Strait.” Because it doesn’t. It is Brinley Addington. After you hear him once, you’re going to remember the voice.
The assortment of songs on the CD is well balanced. There are slow ones, fast ones, and each one is great! The songs on this CD are “Homegrown Pride,” “Hand on a Farm",” “Another Story,” “She Don’t Love Me,” “That Thing We Do,” “Pray For Rain” (with Cheryl Lequire), “Come Closer,” “The Way I Love You,” “More Like Love,” “Carolina,” and “As Long As You Love Me.” I didn’t hear anything I didn’t like. But, like all new albums, I always have my favorite songs – this one is no exception. My favorite new Brinley Addington music, from this 11-track CD would be “That Thing We Do,” “Hang On a Farm,” “Come Closer,” and “More Like Love.” And the only reason I’m stopping there is because if I don’t, I’ll list all 11 songs as my favorites, and I guess that wouldn’t be a bad thing.
I need to throw a video up here for you guys. This song is not on this CD, but it is definitely one of my favorite Brinley Addington songs. And, it is available on his MySpace page. Enjoy!
There is so much new talent out there right now. But from all I have heard, I think Brinley is among the best. The CD is available on Amazon. I hope you will all click on the Amazon link, and listen to the short clips of the songs on this CD. Let me know what you think of Brinley and his music.
Hope you all have a great Monday. I’ll talk to you soon!
