Sunny 1“A Table Away” was the first song we heard on the radio from Texas native Sunny Sweeney. Her second single, currently climbing the charts, is “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving.” She has one of those very unique voices that is easily recognizable, very easy to listen to,  and seems to work well with any song she sings.

She’s been busy touring, and has a schedule loaded with shows where she will be opening for people like Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, and even Reba McEntire.  She’s scheduled for the Coastal Carolina Fair in Ladson, S.C. on Oct. 28. That is one event I’ve been wanting to go to for several years – this might be my year.

Sunny CDSunny is about to release her new CD, “Concrete”, on Aug. 23, 2011. The 10 songs on the new CD are: “Drink Myself Single,” “From A Table Away,” “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving,” “Old Me,” “Amy,” “Worn Out Heart,” “Mean as You,” “It Wrecks Me,” “Helluva Heart,” and “Fall For Me.”

Sunny 2I love her bio on her web page. Here’s just a small piece of it – after you read it, I’m sure you will want to go read the rest. After I read it, I wanted to sit down at the kitchen table, and talk to her over a tall, cold glass of iced coffee. Here’s just a little bit of what she had to say: ”I hate flying, but I flew 29 round trips last year. I am not real fast on a computer. I would wear jeans and a sweatshirt to an awards ceremony if I didn’t think I’d get in trouble. I hate dressing up. I love the smell of cigarette smoke and gasoline because it reminds me of my grandpa.”

I am looking forward to the release of Sunny’s “Concrete” CD. And, I’m definitely hoping I have the chance to see her in concert sometime soon. You can keep up with Sunny on her web site, on facebook, and on Twitter.

It’s Monday – time for me to get ready to head out to the office. I hope you all have a great week!
