Randy TravisI can’t even remember how long it has been since I last saw Randy Travis. It was a show at the Appalachian Fair – my guess would be between five and 10 years ago. But I honestly don’t remember. Before that I saw him in Bristol, Tenn., at Viking Hall. That was somewhere around 20 years ago. Like most country music fans, Randy has always been among my favorite artists.

If you are a Randy Travis fan, and live anywhere near Lafayette, La., or if you might want to plan on a trip to Lafayette – Oct. 26 would be a great time for your visit.  Randy Travis will be performing a benefit concert for Miles Perret Cancer Services.

Randy TravisMiles Perret Cancer Services is dedicated to helping families fight, survive, and live with cancer and serves a 10-parish area: Acadia, Avoyelles, Evangeline, Iberia, Jeff Davis, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermillion. All services are comprehensive and always provided at no charge. No appointment is necessary, and there are no qualifications. [Source]

Randy Travis 2Tickets will officially go on sale mid-September, but a few are going to be sold this Saturday at Games of Acadiana, MPCS’ signature fundraising event, at the Cajundome and Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This looks like a fun event. Tickets are $75 each and that includes Cajun cuisine, beer, wine and soft drinks. All proceeds will benefit MPCS. For more information about the concert, you can visit the MPCS web site by clicking here, or call 337-984-1920.

Randy Travis 1“Two years ago, we welcomed Clint Black to Lafayette with a unique concert ‘under the stars’ that left nothing but great, positive reviews from the attendees,” said MPCS Executive Director, Nicole Jones. “By engaging a country legend such as Randy Travis, we anticipate attendance to grow and are pleased to announce that Superior Energy will be joining us again as a title sponsor." Maybe someday I’ll get to retire and head out to all of these great shows, all over the country… but for now, I’ll stick close to home, and hope that any of you in Lafayette or the surrounding area will get to Randy’s benefit concert on Oct. 26. In addition to keeping up with Randy on his web site, you can also follow him on twitter @randytravis.

Talk to you all tomorrow!
