I got an email yesterday that opened up with this sentence: “Please mention that singer-songwriter Jennifer Hanson’s birthday is Aug. 10th, Wed.”
In the more than 3-1/2 years I’ve been writing Country’s Chatter, I don’t think I’ve ever written about Jennifer. And I really don’t know why. She’s a talented singer, and a very talented songwriter. But I guess I didn’t realize how talented until I read the rest of the e-mail. It continued to say: “She co-wrote Billy Currinton’s song “Let Me Down Easy”, and the most advertised song in country History, “Country Strong,”! for the movie with Paltrow and McGraw! She also co-wrote a song that will be on Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill’s new duet CD coming out next from him.”
So I did a little research on Jennifer. I visited her web site, and found that it hadn’t been updated for a long time. The biggest news on it is an announcement about a benefit show for W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville. The show was going to have Dolly Parton, Ronnie Dunn, Keith Anderson, Kellie Pickler, and “many more special guests and surprises.” At least that’s what the poster said. It also show the show would be held Feb. 2, 2009.
I spent a little time on Jennifer’s web page. Even though the information was dated, she did have music there to listen to, along with links where you can purchase songs on iTunes, and visit her facebook page.
Her singles include “Beautiful Goodbye,” “This Far Gone,” Joyride,” “Half a Heart Tattoo,” and “73 (Everything Changes)”, and she has videos for all of those except “Half a Heart Tattoo.”
I’m glad Jennifer is still writing. I’d like to hear her doing more singing, too. And – even though it’s a few days early, Happy Birthday Jennifer Hanson!
