A few weeks ago, Steel Magnolia was scheduled to appear at our Washington County Fair in Abingdon, Va. They were forced to cancel. We were told Meghan was sick. That she was having throat problems, and was instructed to rest her voice. Now I’m wondering if that was really what was going on.
Josh Jones, half of the Steal Magnolia duo, has entered rehab for alcohol and substance abuse. He posted the following announcement on his web site:
To all of our fans and to those whom it may concern,
God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility to address issues related to alcohol and substance abuse. Hundreds of thousands of people in the world struggle with these battles daily, therefore I am sincerely grateful for all thoughts and prayers at this very poignant juncture in my life and career. I would also like to thank my family, friends, record label and management team for being so supportive and having an active hand in my recovery process.
Thank you and God bless.
–Joshua Scott Jones
I’ve seen these kids perform, and they put on a great show. You can read about their show at Greene County Fair by clicking here. I already have tickets to see them in March, 2011, at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville, Tenn.
I’m certainly keeping Josh and Meghan in my thoughts and prayers. They are two talented kids, and I wish them all the best. As for the Reba tour, which takes off on Oct. 6, Steel Magnolia is scheduled to open for Reba, and here’s what Meghan said about that tour:
I just want to let you all know that as of now all Steel Magnolia scheduled shows will be happening, including the REBA tour. Obviously with Josh taking this time to get healthy he will not be with us, but we will still the playing the same hits you’ve heard at radio and putting on an amazing live show that might even feature some surprises! As hard as this time has been, I am excited to get out there and see you all. I cannot thank the fans enough for your continued love and support.
Talk to you all later. Have a great Sunday!
