Toby Keith FIf you had asked me to make a list of country artists, putting the one at the top who made the most money (from May 2010-May 2011), and the one who made the least amount of money at the bottom… I do not think Sugarland would have been anywhere near the bottom of my list. But according to Forbes, that’s where they ended up.

We need to keep in mind that the incomes they are talking about are not just those generated by album sales and concert tickets. They are also talking about endorsements, like Toby Keith’s sponsorship with Ford. And, of course they don’t leave out other businesses that the artists might be a part of. In Toby’s case, it’s his string of restaurants, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill.

Even with that in mind, however, I can’t believe Sugarland is in the No. 10 spot on this list. Taylor does Cover Girl makeup; Carrie has Olay products; and I’ve seen George Strait showing off someone’s jeans – so it’s all part of the business

Here is the Top Ten List from Forbes.

Toby Keith, $50 million
Taylor Swift, $45 million
Brad Paisley, $40 million
Tim McGraw, $35 million
Rascal Flatts, $34 million
Kenny Chesney, $30 million
George Strait, $24 million
Alan Jackson, $22 million
Carrie Underwood, $20 million
Sugarland, $18 million

Looks like Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, and some of the others have a bit of catching up to do.

Back to e-mail for this evening; back to the office in the morning… Talk to all of you soon!
