Fair Josh Gracin 131Josh Gracin, an artist I have admired since his first ‘salute’ on the American Idol stage, has a new album coming out – tomorrow! On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, you will be able to pick up Josh’s new CD, “Redemption”.

I remember when Josh came to our Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tenn., a few years back. You talk about an awesome show, by a very fan-friendly artist! Josh actually impressed me – a lot. He had grown so much artistically, since his American Idol days. And he really appreciated the fans who came out to see him.

Fair Josh Gracin 024 - CopyI had seen performers get off the stage and come down with their audience before, I never saw one do what Josh did. He left his band playing on stage for a few minutes, while he got off the back of the stage, changed his shirt, put on a hat, hid his microphone under his shirt, and made his way to the top of the bleacher section, where he sat down with his fans. At the appointed time, out came the microphone, and Josh started singing from  his seat among his fans. It was great! Most of them didn’t even realize he was there until he started singing.

After the show, he hung around and talked to us, signed autographs, posed for pictures. It was a really fantastic night at the Fair. but I’ve jumped track here – we were talking about the new CD. I hope you guys will head on over to his web site, and check out some of the songs you will be hearing on the new album.

Fair Josh Gracin 059The new Josh Gracin album Redemption – his first from indie label Average Joe’s Entertainment – hits stores this Tuesday, November 8th. “The album is 100 percent my interpretation, 100 percent my idea of what I wanted the record to be,” Gracin explains. “Just in that alone, it’s going to sound different than anything else I’ve done.”

Redemption features tracks “Long Way to Go” which reached the Top 20 on the Adult Contemporary charts, “Catastrophe,” where Josh teamed up with another Idol alum and winner of Season 2, Ruben Studdard, and “Can’t Say Goodbye,” an incredibly touching song based on the true story and continuing effort of war widow, Seana Arrechaga, to keep her husband’s memory alive.  “Can’t Say Goodbye” was written for the Sears Heroes At Home initiative with all proceeds of single sales going to their efforts to support military service members, veterans, and their families.

Fair Josh Gracin 108Gracin co-produced Redemption with his long-time drummer, Kevin Murphy.  All tracks, excluding a cover of John Mayer’s “Edge of Desire,” were either written or co-written by Gracin. Josh and NickAny of you in the Gilbert Arizona area, or any of you who can get there need to know that Josh is going to be on stage on Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. Josh will be performing a Veterans Benefit Concert at Higley Center for the Performing Arts – and I’m very excited to announce that my very good friend, Nick Nicholson, will also be performing at the show. I would love to be there, but unfortunately there are several thousand miles between me and the Arizona concert, so it won’t be possible. But I sure hope any of you in the area can make the concert – it’s going to be great!

That’s it for now. More later!
