A snowboarding accident in Colorado resulted in a broken collarbone for Jake Owen. Jake sent a lot of tweets about his accident, all the way up until this morning when he wrote: “Seriously feel blessed and so thankful for kind well wishes for me in surgery today. I’m headed in now. Love you guys.”
When Jake was in Crested Butte, Colo., for the EMI Songwriter Festival, he ran into a 17” block of ice while snowboarding on Jan. 13. Jake’s doctor says he will make a full recovery, but unfortunately, he had to cancel some of his upcoming shows, something Jake definitely did not want to do. In one tweet, he was asked by a fan, “what’s gonna happen with your shows at Joe’s Bar?” Jake answered, “If I have to sit on a stool I’ll be there. I can’t let y’all down.” That was on Jan. 13. Then on Jan. 16 Jake wrote: “I guess I spoke too soon.. So sorry to my friends and fans. I’m going in for surgery tomorrow morning. My shows will be postponed. :(“
Jake, I think we’d all agree that surgery is a very good reason to cancel your shows. According to Jakes tweet, the surgery was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today, and he was going to have ‘a couple plates and pins put in.” I have had the pleasure of seeing this guy in concert on several occasions. I also got to meet him, and spend a little time with him. He’s a great entertainer, and really appreciative of his fans. I am joining all of Jake’s fans in wishing him a very speedy recovery.I loved the tweet he sent out the day of his accident, with the photo above. The tweet said, “Last time I broke my collarbone…Thats me and my bro after I fell off my 4 wheeler. Thanks mom for dressing us alike.”
That’s it for now – more later!
