Rodney Atkins will headline the entertainment at a May 4 fundraiser for the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville. The event will be held at The Gait House, in Louisville. This just happens to be the day before the 2012 Kentucky Derby, which of course runs at Churchhill Downs in Louisville. Should be a great weekend for a fundraiser. The town will be crowded, and it’s one of those sporting events that just about everyone who is anyone will be attending.
I was glad to hear Rodney is stepping up and helping out with this event to raise money for the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. In addition to research, the Center also offers many programs and services to cancer patients throughout the area. “We are dedicated to finding the answers to cancer. We have many successes to prove it. And we are on the verge of many more. As a result, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center is emerging as one of America’s finest cancer treatment and research institutions. And that is something that is critical to the future health and prosperity of all Kentuckians.” [Taken from JBGCC web site]
“We are so excited to have Rodney Atkins provide the entertainment at The Julep this year,” said Paula Gish, co-chair of the volunteer committee that is helping to organize the event. “This event has a long and rich tradition as one of Louisville’s premiere Derby Eve events. Having Rodney Atkins perform at the event only enhances that heritage.”
“I am honored to be The Julep’s musical guest this year as I’ve long admired the tradition and energy associated with the event,” says Atkins. “I feel privileged to continue the legacy while raising funds and awareness for the cancer center.”
