I’ll say one thing about our country singers – they sure don’t seem to believe in long engagements! Jake Owen joins the list of country singers who got married – not all that long after he announced his engagement. Kinda like Dave Haywood, Hillary Scott, Kellie Pickler, Shania Twain, and a few others. But Jake’s Monday morning, May 7, 2012, wedding came just on the heels of a rather interesting weekend for him. You may remember my post of just two days ago, when we were talking about Jake getting arrested for doing a little too much celebrating during a Cinco De Mayo celebration. I don’t know about the ‘arrested’ part. But the police department definitely took the time to put him in handcuffs and take up a little bit of his time.
Jake proposed to Lacy Buchanan while onstage at a concert just last month. The concert was a benefit in his hometown, and Jake decided that with so many friends and family members in the audience, the time was perfect for his public proposal. He didn’t have a ring with him, but that didn’t seem to matter. Of course Lacy said yes, and the moment was very romantic.
I love this picture. They were married barefoot on the beach, and after the ceremony, Jake posted on Twitter, “A best friend for life. I now have a wifey.” Of course the tweet was followed by a little smiley face. Jake and Lacy met when she co-stared in his video for “Eight Second Ride.”
I have probably written more articles about Jake than I have any other entertainer. He’s been one of my favorites since I first heard his music. And after meeting him, he immediately jumped to the top of my “These are the most fan-friendly country artists I have ever met.” I hope he never changes.
I have some work to do. I’ll get back to you all in a little while. Can’t leave without tossing out a huge Congratulations, Jake and Lacy! in here. And now, I’m off…
