I have seen Colt Ford’s show twice. Both times were outside, at the Appalachian Fair main stage, in Gray, Tennessee. Both times, the place was packed with fans! And, I have to admit that both times, I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw on stage. Here is where you can see pictures, and a review from one of those shows.
Colt knows I’m not a huge fan of rap music. I’ve told him that. I am a huge fan of country music. But even though Colt is doing ‘counry/rap’, it’s still rap. That said… the man can put on one heck of a show! Very entertaining, very high-energy, and he has a group of extremely talented band members up on that stage doing what they do to make his show more of a music event, than just one person on stage singing (or in his case, rapping). But I definitely understand Colt’s popularity, and I am happy to consider a fan of his show. (Still not a big fan of rap music however). It really doesn’t surprise me that his show scheduled for Monday night, July 23, at Wellwood Restaurant, has been postponed because so many people were planning to attend the event, and according to public safety officials – it was too many for the scheduled venue. So the show, with Wilington, Del., radio station WXCY has been postponed.
“WXCY and the Wellwood Restaurant have postponed the Colt Ford performance for PUBLIC SAFETY REASONS," said a statement posted on the radio station’s Facebook page. "The show was supposed to be an acoustic event which has grown out of control and the venue is not capable of handling the expected crowds. Please know, WXCY along with Colt are actively working to find a new location, with a date and time to be announced." [Source]
