It’s not the first time we’ve had a country singer on a reality television show. Celebrity Apprentice was home to Clint Black, Trace Adkins and John Rich; Whitney Duncan made her temporary home on Survivor; and now we have Caroline Culbirth and Jennifer Kuhln, from the country group Stealing Angels, making their way to to CBS for the new season of Amazing Race. The girls (second row right, light blue shirts), will join the other teams in the hopes of taking home the $1 million grand prize.
I was first introduced to these girls by one of my Twitter friends. Tommy pointed me in the direction of their MySpace page, back in January 2010. I liked their music, and did a few articles on them. I was fortunate enough to see them perform in Nashville during a fundraiser for City of Hope. I also got to meet the girls briefly, and if I hadn’t already been a fan – that would have made me one. They are not only talented, but are friendly, pleasant, and a joy to be around.
These girls came by their talent honestly, with relatives like Loretta Lynn and John Wayne…and even Daniel Boone. Very impressive family trees for this trio. Jennifer is John Wayne’s granddaughter, and Caroline is a descendant of Daniel Boone. The third member of the trio, Tara Lynn, is Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter – she will not be participating in The Amazine Race though. (Pictured with the girls above is my Twitter friend, Tommy).
The girls released “He Better Be Dead,” back in 2010 and it made it to No. 48 on the country charts. They also had “Paper Heart” out in 2010. That one, though it’s my favorite, only got to No. 59 on the charts. I hope they haven’t given up on recording. They have lot to offer to the country music world. Hopefully, when the race is over – we’ll find them back in the studio.
On the show, the girls will be racing against against hockey players and brothers Bates Battaglia and Anthony Battaglia. This is the 22nd season for The Amazing Race. It will be hosted again by Phil Keoghan, and will premiere on Feb. 17 on CBS.
Good Luck, girls! We’ll all be watching!
