I spent the day looking through web sites of some of my favorite country artists. I like to see what they’re doing, and where they are going. I was thrilled to see that Dwight Yoakam has a show at the Ryman Auditorium on April 12. According to his home page, this will be his first time back at the Ryman since 2005. Tickets went on sale Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. I’d say anyone who wants to go better check into tickets now, because if they aren’t sold out – they probably will be soon. Be sure to check out his web site for other show dates.
I think my favorite Dwight songs are “Little Ways,” “Streets of Bakersfield,” “I Sang Dixie”, and It Won’t Hurt.” Of course I wouldn’t be a Dwight fan if I didn’t throw “Honky Tonk Man” into that list. Those are some of the songs I remember most from my early days as a Dwight Yoakam fan. Some of you younger kids might think more of “Baby Don’t Go” with Sheryl Crow,” “Crazy Little Think Called Love,” Things Change,” and “Pocket of a Clown.” I often listen to Dwight’s music. There really isn’t anything he’s done that I don’t like. But like most fans, among all the good ones are the ones I consider my favorites.
In addition to his facebook page, be sure to follow him on Twitter. @DwightYoakam. Visit his facebook page, too.
