It’s been a while since we have had any new music from Whitney Duncan. But the country artist who first caught our attention as a contestant on Nashville Star, has just released a new eight song album. Whitney finished the fifth season of Nashville Star in fifth place, and after that, two of her singles made it to the national radio, and landed on US country music charts. Unfortunately, “When I Said I Would” and “Skinny Dippin’” both made it only up to the number 48 spot on the charts.
I had the opportunity to meet Whitney twice, both times it was in Nashville when she was doing shows to benefit City of Hope. She is very talented, very friendly, and obviously was having a great time singing for the fans at the event.
I never really understood why Whitney didn’t do more on the radio – why she didn’t put out more albums, and why more people weren’t playing her music. She is talented, beautiful, and has such a great presence on the stage. Hopefully, this new album will bring new successes for Whitney. She has a large fan base that has always been behind her, and continues to support her.
“One Shot” is my favorite song on the new album. It’s definitely what people would refer to as ‘radio-ready’, and I’d love to see her put that one out nationally. “We Got Tonight,” featuring Jonathan Singleton, is a slow, romantic song that definitely let’s you hear what Whitney can do with her vocals. It’s her ‘softer side’
I like every song on the new album. I’m sure Whitney’s fans will, too. I guess if someone would ask me for my favorite two on the album, it would be “One Shot” and “We Got Tonight.” But again, there is nothing on the the album that I don’t like.
The title of the album is “One Shot” – and here’s your track list:
Something in the Kiss
That’s How You Make Love
Can’t Sleep Anyway
We Got Tonight (feat. Jonathan Singleton)
If you get a minute, head over to YouTube and check out this song with Whitney and Kenny Rogers, “My World Is Over.” I love it! And, be sure to visit Whitney’s facebook page, and please ‘Like’ the page while you’re there. You can also follow her on Twitter @whitneyduncan.
