We all know it has been a very long time since we got to hear any new music from Johnny Cash. Johnny died, at age 71, ten years ago. His family has announced that Cash’s estate will be releasing a new album on March 25, 2014. “Out Among the Stars” is an album Johnny recorded with Billy Sherrill in the early 80’s. The album was never released by Columbia Records, and somehow disappeared when the label dropped Johnny in 1986. Now, we’re finding out that Johnny and his wife, June Carter Cash, had put those tapes away.
Son, John Carter Cash, said that his parents never threw anything away. They kept everything in their lives. They had an archive that had everything in it, from original tapes from Johnny’s television show, to random things like a camel saddle that he received as a gift form the prince of Saudi Arabia.
That is awesome news for fans of Johnny’s music. There are 13 tracks on the album, and the songs you will hear are as follows: Out Among the Stars, Baby Ride Easy, She Used to Love Me a Lot, After All, I’m Movin’ On, If I Told You Who it Was, Call Your Mother, I Drove Her Out of my Mind, Tennessee, Rock and Roll Shoes, Don’t You Think It’s Come Our Time, I Came to Believe, and a bonus track.
This is an album I’m looking forward to. I will be nice to put a CD in the player, and have real country music come out the speakers.
Back soon with more news!
