Sea Gayle Records/Artista Nashville’s Jerrod Niemann announces he has partnered with Corey Frizzell to produce “That’s The Way Love Goes – A Benefit for Legendary Singer Songwriter Whitey Shafer.” The benefit will take place Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Nashville’s Honey Tonk Central. In addition to Niemann, performers include Dallas Davidson, Rob Hatch, Ken Mellons, Lance Miller, Lee Roy Parnell, Daryle Singetary, Billy Yates and some special surprise guests. Tickets will be available at the door for $20, with limited seating available.

We became buddies and he was kind enough to take me under his wing and open some doors for me,” shares Niemann. “He’s my favorite songwriter and I am so excited to be able to assist him in any way. My buddy Corey Frizzell and I agree that no one else deserves this night more than Whitey. It will be an honor for me to get on stage with my band, along with some of Nashville’s finest singer songwriters and jam to some of Nashville’s finest songs. Jerrod Neimann AF 187Whitey has written with and for some of the greatest Artists and Songwriters known to Country Music. He befriended Lefty Frizzell, with whom he began co-writing. Their collaborations included “That’s the Way Love Goes” and “I Never Go Around Mirrors,” two of the most well-known songs in Frizzell’s catalog. “That’s The Way Love Goes” was also recorded by Johnny Rodriguez and Merle Haggard. “Rainbow In Daddy’s Eyes” is an all-out, pure country weeper recorded by Johnny Bush; “I Wonder Do You Think Of Me” was recorded by Keith Whitley. “All My Ex’s Live In Texas,” “Overnight Success,” “Lefty’s Gone,” and “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind” were just a few of the songs recorded by George Strait. Whitey has written over 500 songs and continues his hit songwriting career with artists such as John Michael Montgomery, LeAnn Womack, and Kenny Chesney.
