Hunter-Hayes-Robin-RobertsI hope everyone stayed up and watched the ABC Special on Monday night (Nov. 3, 2014). It was great. The show was hosted by ABC’s Robin Roberts. ABC put a lot of entertainment into this one-hour show.

We heard a lot of great stories about a lot of great country songs. And, we head a lot of great songs! Lady Antebellum sang “Islands in the Stream,” Martina McBride did “Stand By Your Man,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” Hunter Hayes, and Kacey Musgraves finished out the show singing the number one song on the list, “Crazy”.

Here is the list the ABC special gave as the 15 songs (listed with the artist who sang it).

15. I Will Always Love You, Dolly Parton

14. Live Like You Were Dying, Tim McGraw

13. Coal Miner’s Daughter, Loretta Lynn.

12. Islands in the Stream, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton

11. Love Story, Taylor Swift

10. Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning), Alan Jackson

9. Independence Day, Martina McBride

8. Stand By Your Man, Tammy Wynette

7. The Gambler, Kenny Rogers

6. Mama Tried, Merle Haggard

5. Folsom Prison Blues, Johnny Cash

4. Friends in Low Places, Garth Brooks

3. I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, Hank Williams

2. He Stopped Loving Her Today, George Jones

1. Crazy, Patsy Cline

There they are. Do you agree that these are the 15 songs that changed country music? A lot of them are my favorites, but I have favorites that aren’t in that list, too. I’m betting we all do.

I’ll be back with more soon!
