Here are our country birthdays for the week of Sunday, Dec.13 through Saturday, Dec. 19. Charlie Rich and Little Jimmy Dickens are no longer with us, but have certainly left their mark on country music. Taylor Swift really isn’t country anymore; some question if she ever she ever really was. but, since most of us first heard her on country radio, we’ve included her in our list. Cletus T. Judd would probably be the first to admit he is more of a commedian than a country singer, but we didn’t want to leave him out. And then there is Cowboy Troy. He was probably the first ‘country rap singer’ I ever heard. I never thought rap belonged in the world of country music, I still don’t. but, just the same – Happy birthday Cowboy Trop. and to each of the others on our list this week.
I am also doing something just a little different this week, and including a recording from Jeff Carson. A lot of you may not remember Jeff by name, but I’m sure you remember some of his music. The song I picked to include is “I Can Only Imagine”. Jeff will be celebrating his birthday on December 16.
Happy birthday to everyone listed below who is celebrating their birthday this week.
December 14, 1932 – July 25, 1995
