JLJLast night, Johnson City area residents were treated to a fantastic show from Joe Lasher Jr. Many of our readers may remember us talking about Joe when he opened for Cole Swindell at our Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tenn., this past August [Article].  Since then, this young man has been very busy – performing with Locash and Parmalee at Guitar Jam in Asheville, N.C., working on his new EP (which we will tell you a little more about later in this article), his new single aired on Sirius XM’s the Highway, and of course he is continuing to ‘wow’ audiences with his country/rock performances.

Joe 2While young in years, Joe gives every appearance of being much older in experience.  He isn’t afraid of anything.  When he takes that stage he openly talks to his audience as if he were talking to a room full of close friends.  His performances are nothing short of dynamic.  From great covers of artists such as Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton,  Eric Church and Johnny Cash, straight through to his newest single, “Tap A Little Tail Light,” Joe’s ability to pull the audience into his performance would make any country singer proud to be along side him on stage.

Joe 7When Joe and his band take that stage, you are looking at as much talent as you would see at any major artist performance.  Zach Haney can match the best of them when he picks up his guitar.  Harry Lewis keeps the band in rhythm with some awesome percussion, which from time to time includes a bit of twirling of those drumsticks, and we can’t say enough about bass guitar/vocalist, Andalyn.  We recently reviewed her solo EP and had a contest offering that CD to one of our readers. [Article] She is as great on stage with Joe’s band as she is as a solo performer. Her cover of “Mama’s Broken Heart” and “Little Red Wagon” equal those of the artist who made them hits.

Joe 8It was a great night at the 50Fifth Club (North Roan Street, Johnson City, Tenn.)  The capacity crowd enjoyed the music, the dancing, and the show. We loved that Joe still takes time to stop what he’s doing and pose for a selfie with fans.  He is not only friendly, he is appreciative of the fact that folks enjoy coming out to see him and hear his music.  And, we were very glad to be part of that group last night.

Joe 3We mentioned Joe’s upcoming EP release, so let me tell you a little more about that.  If you are in the northeast Tennessee, western North Carolina area or anywhere else within driving distance to Asheville, N.C., you aren’t going to want to miss this. Joe is holding an EP Release Show for the new album, “Jack to Jesus”, on March 18, at The Orange Peel in Asheville.  General admission is $10, and tickets are on sale now.  There are a few VIP tickets still available for only $25, but if you are interested in one of those, you really need to act quickly.  You can find all the information you need on Joe’s web site. If you can’t make the show, but you are interested in ordering some of Joe’s merchandise, you can do that on his web site, too!

JoeIn addition to Joe’s website, visit his Facebook page, and remember to ‘Like” it while you are there.  He has some great videos posted, along with all kinds of news about his shows and his band. And of course, there are a lot of pictures you can look at as well. You can also follow him on Twitter @JoeLasherJr. If you aren’t already following Country’s Chatter on Twitter and Periscope, we hope you will. You will find us @countryschatter. Last night, we did several live broadcasts on Periscope from Joe’s show , and will continue to do that with other artists wherever the venue allows.
