Catherine
Looks like 2017 is getting off to a great start in the country music world.  And, if you’re looking for more new music to get you going, we’ve got it for you. Catherine McGrath has a new EP, and a new video. Released just before Christmas through Warner Bros. Records, Oneshowcases the stunning vocals and songwriting capabilities of this young artist through four acoustic tracks, including the three original songs–‘Hell Would Have To Freeze Over’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘She’ll Never Love You’, as well as a beautiful version of Jessie Ware’s 2014 hit single ‘Say You Love Me’. She made it difficult for me to pick a favorite from these four – but if I had to, for me, I believe that favorite would be “she’ll Never Love You”.

“Hell Would Have to Freeze Over” is pretty much a definite way of saying ‘this relationship is done’.  This is a mid-tempo, song with a catchy melody, good lyrics, and a good story.  It’s a ‘maybe that worked before, but it’s not going to work again’ song.  A message to that one person who left you down one too many times.  Very different from the other three on the EP, but every bit as good.

Fans of today’s country music are going to fall in love with this 19-year old newcomer.  She says she “draws her influences from the likes of Rascal Flatts, Kacey Musgraves, Dan + Shay, Maddie & Tae, as much as pop stars like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran”.  Her music can best be described as contemporary country-pop. Fans of any of the artists she mentions as influences will quickly become fans of Catherine.

Catherine 2The lead track ‘Hell Would have To Freeze Over’ has featured on 35 Spotify playlists including the New Music Friday Playlist (which it was added to for a second time), and reached #1 on the Very Nearly Nashville Playlist, with Catherine as the cover star. ‘Cinderella’ also debuted on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK Playlist amongst various others while ‘She’ll Never Love You’ was included in the Global New Music Friday list.

Amazon Music Unlimited also included Onein their ‘Ones To Watch 2017’.

In February Catherine will be supporting The Saturdays’ Una Healy for two special shows playing at London’s St Pancras Old Church on the 15th before returning to Ireland to play The Sugar Club Dublin on the 16th.

Look at this video from her studio session, recording the song “Cinderella”.  With beautiful vocals and a great melody, Catherine tells that familiar story about a shoe fitting.
