JNCritically acclaimed country artist JERROD NIEMANN did what he does best – entertained – during the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s  Songwriter Session in Nashville, TN, on Saturday (6/17).  Well-known for his own PLATINUM-selling #1 songs “Lover, Lover” and “Drink To That All Night,” the singer is also a respected tunesmith having penned songs recorded by Garth Brooks (including #1 Chris LeDoux tribute, “Good Ride Cowboy”), John Anderson, Lee Brice, The Cadillac Three, Jamey Johnson and Blake Shelton.

Niemann shared a number of stories from songs spanning his 10 plus year career – with some written from heartache and others following late-night antics – for the full house at Ford Theater. He kicked off the event sharing the backstory on how he ended up writing three songs for Brooks, and the unexpected call he received from the legend himself while driving his mother to the airport. Niemann, who came up in the industry around the same time as close friends and artists Brice, Johnson and Randy Houser, also spoke to the importance of writing with people that you know have your back. “It’s so much easier to succeed as a team with people that are there for you,” he explained. Niemann also performed a couple of Johnson’s songs that he co-wrote, “My Saving Grace” and “Redneck Side of Me.”

Showing off his sense of humor, Niemann recalled a time when Country radio wasn’t playing drinking songs – and he had just submitted an entire collection of songs on the topic to his publisher. She replied to him noting, “Taylor Swift isn’t recording drinking songs. Can you dig a little deeper and get back to us?” After being “mildly offended,” Niemann recorded a song and got back to her with what would be his Top 15 single, “One More Drinkin’ Song.”

Niemann closed out the session with “Old School New Again” off his notable debut album, JUDGE JERROD & THE HUNG JURY.

Country radio and media are falling fast for the romantic lead single “God Made A Woman” from his forthcoming fourth studio album – and first with Curb Records. Rolling Stone Country praises, “’God Made A Woman’ seems to reflect an evolution for both the country singer and the genre itself.” Whiskey Riff adds, “Sometimes you hear a song and everything about it stops you in your tracks. The lyrics, the melody, what it does to you physically. That’s exactly what happened to me after listening to Jerrod Niemann’s new single ‘God Made A Woman’.”

This Sunday (6/25), Niemann will join 30 campers – talented in music, with Williams Syndrome – for dinner and karaoke as part of the 8th Annual ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp in Nashville. He’ll continue to tour this summer with coast-to-coast dates scheduled from San Diego, CA, to Long Island, NY, and everywhere in between.

Presented by SunTrust, the museum’s weekly Songwriter Sessions feature songwriters sharing the stories behind their work in an intimate performance setting, with audience Q&A. Learn more about the museum’s family and educational programs at countrymusichalloffame.org.
