DSCN5227On Saturday night, September 15, 2018, the inaugural Smith & Wesley and Friends Benefit Concert was held in Ringgold, GA.  The concert was to raise funds for the Wes and Shirley Smith Charitable Endowment.  Artists taking the stage that night included John Anderson, Bucky Covington, Cotter Hill, Mitch Rossell, and, country duo Smith & Wesley.

Shirley Smith stated, ” The Wes and Shirley Smith Charitable Endowment was started when Wesley passed away in January 2015. When alive, Wesley was very personally involved in his community. He pioneered the Northwest Georgia Bank Foundation to better benefit the community. His wish was for the foundation to continue even if the bank ceased operation. Knowing this was his wish, the Smith family started the endowment”.

The concert was held at Northwest Groegia Amphitheater, which was built for the bank’s 100th birthday and given to the community.  The amphitheater is one of many community projects with which the Wes and Shirley Smith Charitable Endowment was involved.  During the Saturday night show, the stage was offically named the L. Wesley Smith Memorial Stage.
