WMHe may be an “old-soul” personally—but newcomer Walker Montgomery has one boot firmly entrenched in today’s country music, and with the release of his hot debut EP, SIMPLE TOWN, he shows just how committed he is to preserving the past and celebrating the future of the format.  The Boot gave Montgomery’s EP a “First Listen” this week and fans are clamoring for more. Click HERE for SIMPLE TOWN.

The son of the legendary 90s Country star, John Michael Montgomery, and nephew of

Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery, Walker is carving his way into Country music while still showing respect to his rural roots. He has already garnered a respectable amount of success with the title track from his SIMPLE TOWN EP, which has racked up over 1-million streams on his own channel on Spotify in less than a year, and the newest single, “Just Say When,” released just six months ago, boasts over 300,000 streams.

Produced by Colt Ford and Noah Gordon, Walker’s first official release is a diverse reflection of his musical influences, which includes Luke Bryan and Randy Travis, along with his dad and uncle, of course.

“My favorite artist of all time is Randy Travis,” says Montgomery. “All of his songs just hit me in the heart and I love his vocal movements. Luke Bryan is also one of my heroes. Listening to those artists have really influenced the way that I sing. I’m a sucker for love songs, so I’m a really big fan of my dad’s music too. Nineties love songs, it just doesn’t get any better than that!”

In addition to the release of his new EP, the debut video for Walker’s current single “Just Say When” makes its World Premiere on CMT on October 23 on CMT Music, CMT’s 24/7 Music Channel, and CMT.com and will feature Montgomery in the CMT Artist Discovery Campaign beginning that same day.

“I am SO excited that CMT is airing my new video for ‘Just Say When!’ It is a first for me and I’m very humbled that they are going to share this with their audience,” says Montgomery. Directed by emerging director, Dawson Waters, and shot in Nashville, TN, as well as Nicholasville, KY, the video stars Walker himself as the main character who is vacillating in a relationship with the girl who got away, but won’t stay away.
