I want to start out tonight by sending a quick "Get Well" greeting to Kellie Pickler. Kellie’s web page says she had to cancel shows in Bardetown, Ky., and Bloomsburg, Pa., due to illness. She is scheduled for a Sept. 24 in Marietta, Ga., and so far – that concert is still on. No other information was available on her site. But we hope she’s doing better now.
Toby Keith’s movie has finally made it to a theater near me! I’ll be heading to Johnson City tomorrow night to check it out. I hope the story line is good, I can handle a little comedy, and what probably won’t be "Oscar nominated performances." But you have to admit — Toby Keith will definitely look good on the big screen. I’ll let you all know what I thought of the movie after I see it — in the mean time, I’m still waiting to hear what those of you who have seen it thought of it. Be sure to write and let me know.
Buddy Jewell was part of this year’s Country Fans Care for St. Jude Kids, held in Nashville. The fundraiser involves country music fans and country music artists, and is an event to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Three fan clubs came together in support of St. Jude, and they did it in a unique way.
Buddy’s fan club raised more than $1,200 in a silent auction. Buddy said St. Jude is close to his heart, because his cousin was a St. Jude patient. His cousin lost his battle with leukemia, but Buddy works to give back because of his gratitude, and to emphasize his family’s appreciation for what St. Jude did for them and his cousin.
This was Keith Anderson’s third year to raise money for St. Jude. He did it by selling name badges to fan club members for $5 each. Fan club members also sold window clings, temporary tattoo stickers, and bacelets. His band members also posed for a group photo and then autographed each one of the photos for fan club members.
Members of Chris Young’s Fan Club had a year-long pproject called "Chris Young Heartwarmers." They made and collected quilts for the children at St. Jude. Chris’s fans donated more than 100 quilts, which were displayed at his fan club party.
Expenses at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are $1.3 million each day. For more information about Country Cares Fan Club for St. Jude Kids, call 1-800-886-3656.
That’s all for now. I hope you guys have a great weekend. Drop me a line soon, and pictures – we love pictures! If anyone got to go to Pub Crawl 2 in Nashville on Thursday night, or anyone has more photos from the Sugarland concert on Saturday (9/13), we can always find a place for them! Talk to you all soon.
