The 2008 CMA Awards are less than 2 weeks away, and the lineup of performers and presenters keeps growing. We’ve known for sometime now that Carrie Underwood (pictured here with Reggie Neel from WXBQ), and Bread Paisley will be co-hosting the show this year, and now we’ve learned that Julianne Hough and Crag Morgan will be reporting from the red carpet, in a 30 minute special – CMA Awards Red Carpet Live! Presented by Chevy. The show will cover the arrivals of some of country music’s biggest entertainers.
In a released statement, Julianne said she couldn’t be more excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity. "I’m so excited to be a part of the CMA Awards per-show," she said. "This will be my first time at the CMA Awards, and it is definitely the biggest night in Country music. I am looking forward to interviewing the artists that have inspired me and that I’ve looked up to over the years."
Craig Morgan said He was in New York City just leaving the Good Morning America studios when he heard that CMA had asked him to host their first ever Red Carpet Special. "I was and am extremely honored. It’s going to be a great night and I’m looking forward to working with Julianne Hough to bring all the entertainment of the red carpet to the fans."
The special will air on ABC a half hour before the awards show begins on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m.
The American Red Cross has gotten the help of some of country music’s biggest names to honor military veterans, at a Nov 8 concert in Raleigh, N.C. Billy Ray Cyrus will headline the show, which will be held at Koka Booth Amphitheatgre. Ticketmaster is offering buy one, get one free tickets, and an anonymous sponsors donated $10,000 which which every ticket holder is eligible to win.
The concert is part of a Veteran’s Day celebration, and will begin with a parade at 9 a.m. The concert, with the 82nd Airborne All American Chorus, will begin at 5 p.m.
I think that will be all for tonight. I hope everyone had a good weekend, remembered to turn their clocks back last night (and get that extra hour sleep).
