I just found out that while I was busy stuffing a turkey, Trace Adkins was riding a float in New York City, as part of the annual Macy’s day Thanksgiving Parade. I thought maybe a few of you were also busy and didn’t get to see his performance, so here it is for you. I need to learn to plan out my Thanksgiving morning a little better than this (or get a television in the kitchen).
Current concert information for Trace starts after the Christmas holiday, with a New Year’s Eve shwo scheduled for Dec. 31 at the Sommet Center in Nashville. That show is with Lynyrd Skynyrd. I’m not real sure how this is going to happen, but Trace and Lynyrd are also going to be in Pikeville, Ky., at Eastern Kentucky Expo Center the same night! I can only guess they will not be tearing down stages and lighting, and setting up again in Kentucky. But it should be an interesting night for the guys.
The only reason Tim McGraw is sitting here in a scene from Four Christmases, is because I’m going to see that movie tonight. I know that sometimes movies aren’t as funny (or as interesting) as the promos make them look. But I’m going to take my chances with this one. I’m ready for a little holiday humor (before I dig into the leftover turkey and turn it into turkey salad, turkey casserole, turkey soup, turkey tacos – or whatever).
This cover from Playboy magazine is from 1978. My goodness – that was 30 years ago! And the way I see it, Dolly looks even better now than she did then. The ears are cute, but the lady still looks more beautiful today. (The photo at the left was taken in April 2008 when Dolly opened her Porter Wagoner exhibit at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.)
If you have never had the opportunity to visit Dollywood, you should really go there sometime. It’s a theme park, lots of amusement rides (including several great roller coasters); lots of shows; beautiful display of Christmas lights from Thanksgiving through the new year… and the whole area is a great vacation spot for families. Right in the heart of the Smoky Mountains.
Fox News put her at number four (of 10) in their Playboy’s Sexiest Celebrity Covers list. She was the only country music sinter to make the list. Apparently Hugh Hefner would like to change that, and rumor has it he offered Carrie Underwood $3 million to pose nude for the magazine.
I hate to tell Hugh this, but I really don’t think Carrie Underwood needs another $3 million dollars that badly. (You guys remember her performance at East Tennessee State University last spring – she was paid $7,120 per minute for her performance… yep, nearly half a million was spent on that college show. And that was just one of many, many, many shows she’s done this year. Hugh – she doesn’t need your money. And I really don’t think Carrie would do it for any price.
That’s the kind of cover I expect to see Carrie on. It’s the December issue of Elle. This issue also has an article about Kristy Lee Cook, from American Idol. (I love that show – anxious for January to roll around so we can watch it again).
That’s all for today. I hope you guys are enjoying your Thanksgiving vacation. I’m just not used to getting two days off in a row (that aren’t a Saturday and Sunday), so I’m planning on making the most of this four-day weekend.
I’ll talk to you all soon! Write when you get a minute, and I’ll write back. I promise. (May take me a few days, but I always do it). See you tomorrow!
