I live in a very small town. I like it. But sometimes I think we get left out of the big town stuff that would be totally cool to live around. Or, am I the only one who would like to have a Toby Keith “I Love This Bar & Grill” restaurant in the neighborhood?
Toby Keith has two of them. One in Oklahoma and the other in Las Vegas. And now, he’s hoping to build one in Rosemont, Ill. At least they are discussing it there. The restaurant would be housed in a 15,000 sq. ft. building, somewhere in the city, Mayor Brad Stephens said.
The mayor (pictured left) said they had a productive meeting, and are reviewing potential sites for the restaurant. “They left the meeting like they’d like to have a facility opened in Rosemont in 2009,” the mayor said.
That place sure would change the landscape around this part of the country.
George Jones will be making a return visit to Viking Hall in Bristol, Tenn. in February. I just heard it announced today on WXBQ Radio. Here are a few pictures from the last time George played in Bristol. He’s been a part of country music for a long time, and he still has so many fans who are always anxious to have him back on the stage.
George’s greatest hit has to have been “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” The song won Single of the Year at the CMA’s in both 1980 and 1991. He won nearly every award possible for that song, including a Grammy, and the song was number one on the charts for 18 weeks!
The opening act is really different. It will be Conway Twitty the Musical. Gee, how long is that play? Will George even have time to sing? I think tickets are now on sale, but check with Viking Hall in Bristol to be sure.
I’m going Christmas shopping. I guess there’s some truth in “Better late than never.” You guys have a good day, and we’ll talk more later. Thanks for the mail, and thanks for the on-line Christmas cards! You are all so sweet! See you later!
