Julianne Hough (pictured here with one of her former dance partners, Apolo Ohno), decided last year that she would not be returning to Dancing With the Stars. Her reason was that she wanted to concentrate on her singing career.
All that changed when her boyfriend, Chuck Wicks, got invited to dance this year. And, as you might have guessed, Julianne will be paired with Chuck on this year’s show, which premiers on March 9, on ABC.
I’m glad Julianne is back. I like her. And yes, I watch Dancing With the Stars. Remember … I like all of the ‘reality’ television shows that I consider “talent’ shows.
We had heard a long time ago that Donnie Osmond would be one of the contestants this year. But apparently that isn’t the case. Here’s the complete line up of celebrities who will be paired with the professional dancers.
Belinda Carlisle, lead singer of the Go-Go’s; David Alan Grier, who had roles on In Living Color, Life with Bonnie, and most recently Chocolate News on Comedy Central; Jewel, there’s a name we all know; Shawn Johnson, 17-year old Olympic Gold Medalist in Gymnastics; Lil’ Kim, Kimberly Denise Jones, Grammy-winning rapper, singer and actress; Gilles Marini, he had a role in Sex and the City movie, and also appeared in episodes of Ugly Betty, Dirty Sexy Money, and Criminal Minds.
Ty Murray may not be a name you know, unless you’re into Rodeos. He is a seven-time All-around World Champion, and has also won two bull riding world titles. By the way, He’s Jewel’s husband. Steve-O, Stephen Glover, stared in MTV’s Wildboyz, and I can’t say I know much more about him than that. Nancy O’Dell, co-anchor of Access Hollywood, and actress with roles on 30 Rock, Joey, third Watch, Beverly Hills 90210, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and many others.
Denise Richards will also be taking to the dance floor this season. You’ve seen her in episodes of Spin City, Friends, Seinfeld and Two and a Half Men. She currently has her own reality show, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated. Former football Hall of Famer, Lawrence Taylor. He has also written two best selling books (Living on the Edge and Over the Edge). We’ve already mentioned Chuck Wicks… not much I need to tell you all about him. And rounding out the list of celebrity dancers this year will be Steve Wozniak. The Woz is a Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist. He helped shape the computer industry with his design of Apple’s first line of products, the Apple I and II.
In case you all missed it, or in case you forgot, or in case you just want another look at Julianne in action – here’s a clip of her dancing with Apolo a few seasons back.
Talk to you all soon. Have a good day!
