Country Crossing in Dothan, Ala., is still in the groundbreaking/building stage. And coming up on Saturday, March 21, will be the official groundbreaking for Tracy Lawrence BBQ, Lorrie Morgan Cafe, Worley Bird Cafe, John Anderson Buffet, and the Bingo Pavilion. The groundbreaking will be at 10a:30 a.m., on the East Side of Hwy. 231 in Dothan.
The event will also include performances by George Jones, Clint Black Aaron Tippin, Lee Greenwood, with special guests Randy Houser and Shane Owen. The concert begins at 2 p.m., and admission is free. This is the first Jones Jam, which is to be an annual event.
If you haven’t visited Country Crossing’s web page yet, I hope you will go take their video tour of what this place is going to be when it’s finished. Awesome is an understatement. I’m ready to make my reservation now for whichever hotel is open first.
Back in October, when I first told you all about this Ronnie Gilley project, the release they sent said this: Country Crossing will feature star-powered, celebrity-themed venues and restaurants, a hotel, amphitheatre, family entertainment center, RV Park and festival grounds. A variety of events will be held on the festival grounds including a series of music festivals (Country, R&B, Blues, Classic Rock, Gospel and more), rodeos, monster truck competitions and Bible crusades. (Pictured: Top Row: Chris Lucas & Preston Brust of the duo LowCash Cowboys Bottom Front Row: James Stroud, Lorrie Morgan, George Jones, Ronnie Gilley, John Anderson, Tracy Lawrence) Country Crossing is scheduled to open in Fall 2009.
I doesn’t mention that Lorrie Morgan is going to be at the concert, but her cafe is one of the ones they will be breaking ground for on Saturday. So I thought I’d close with one of Lorrie’s videos.
I’ll talk to you all soon – have a nice St. Patrick’s Day!
