We have our first confirmed FunFest artist. The 2009 event will be held in downtown Kingsport, Tenn., from July 10-18. Last year, Rodney Adkins, Little Big Town and Ashley Gehring headlined the event. So far this year, we have only one confirmed country artist – and that came from his web site.
So Northeast Tennessee (and people anywhere near by), get ready for Luke Bryan! He will take the stage at Fun Fest on July 16.
Appalachian Fair’s confirmed artists for their August event are Lady Antebellum, The Lost Trailers, Jimmy Wayne, and Eli Young Band.
And those of you who plan to attend Washington County Fair this year, get ready for Carter’s Chord, Zac Brown Band, Heidi Newfield, Keith Anderson, and Jake Owen! Those are all confirmed now. Sounds like a great line-up to me.
Looks like we might also have Luke Bryan at the Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville in September. But I’m not sure if that one is confirmed or not.
And remember that between now and summer, we’ve got spring! And spring concerts include the Relay For Life benefit Concert for a Cure in Erwin, Tenn., on May 5; and the Sugarland/Billy Currington concert on May 22, at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn.
And speaking of Billy Currington … I just have to tell you guys – “People are Crazy” is without a doubt one of the best songs on country radio today. At least I think it is.
I’m sure this Johnson City show is going to be fantastic with Sugarland and Billy taking the stage.
Here’s a little clip of Billy Currington and Luke Bryan at Joe’s Bar in Chicago, singing “Good Directions,” which I think we all know was co-written by Luke. And of course, being a video from a bar, you’ve also got the help of a lot of singing out of tune, screaming fans. But it’s still fun.
That’ll do it for right now. I’ll keep you guys posted about upcoming concerts and fair appearances in the area. And if you find out any news before I do, please send it my direction. Have a great Sunday, I’m going to use a little of mine to answer some mail.
