Kenny Chesney is about to put out his Greatest Hits II album. I like the album cover a lot. The back of a tour bus, a bunch of guitars and a few large trunks full of “places we’ve been” stickers…Good work by the art department! The album will be out May 19. I’m already looking forward to adding this one to my ever-growing CD collection.
Kenny is including his new single, “Out Last Night,” on the CD. The new single was released to radio on March 23. It’s another Kenny hit, for sure.
This guy has come a very long way since playing at the Chucky Trading Post (bar, restaurant, pool room), about 15 minutes from my house. He was a college student then, at East Tennessee State University, and he would sit out at the Chucky several nights a week, just him, his guitar and a microphone they provided for him. Oh yes, and a tip jar. I wonder if Kenny even remembers the days when he played for tips.
Kenny has his calendar full right now – in fact, concert dates and locations are listed on his web site through the middle of September – including a June 27 show at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. That would be the stadium where the Philadelphia Eagles play football. Of course there are other stadium shows up on his list. Kenny seems to love performing at stadiums.
Here’s a little clip you guys might enjoy – It’s Kenny helping Peyton Manning (former UT football player, currently with the Colts) celebrate his 33rd birthday at Sloppy Joe’s in Key West, Fla. The duet is “You Never Even Called Me By My Name,” by David Allan Coe.
I need to run off – time for a fun (but possibly rainy) day at Dollywood! I’ll try to get something up from that little adventure before the end of the weekend. You guys enjoy your Friday, and I’ll talk to you all soon.
