That Nashville Sound is reporting that Tracy Lawrence, his manager, and his band members avoided serious injury this past Sunday, when their tour bus was involved in an accident while driving to Nashville, following a concet in Jackpot, Nev.
The front tire on the bus blew, while they were traveling through Nebraska somewhere around 1 p.m. Chuck Pursel, who was driving the bus, lost control, and the bus went down an embankment, over the median, onto two wheels, and then into oncoming traffic. Chuck turned the wheel hard, got control of the bus and stopped in the center of the median, where the tire was changed.
Hard to believe that no one was hurt, but I know they are all very thankful to have made it through what I’m sure was a very frightening trip for all of them. This accident certainly isn’t the first ever reported for entertainers in just about every genre.
Gospel singer Joyce ‘Dottie’ Rambo died on May 11, 2008, as a result of injuries sustained in a fatal bus accident near Springfield, Mo. That article can be found here.
On July 30, 2008, I had an article about Mark Chestnut and his band being involved in an accident in their tour bus. They were headed home following a performance in Fort Worth, Texas when the bus was rear-ended. Following that collision. Mark said he really prefers the bus to flying, and he also said, “I’m really, really glad all the boys are all right.”
On Aug. 1, 2008, it was reported that members of a rock group, Disturbed, were all unhurt, after their tour bus blew a tire in Florence County, S.C., and traveled over an embankment after their driver lost control.
Be careful out there, tour bus drivers. You’ve got some of our favorite people riding behind you. I am glad to hear that Tracy and everyone with him on the bus escaped injury during this latest mishap.
Time for one of my favorite Tracy songs!
That’s all for now. Tonight after work I’m heading to Pigeon Forge, and will be spending part of my Friday with Dolly Parton. It’s media day at Dollywood, and I’ll be there with camera in hand to attend the premier of her newest attraction, Imagine’. there will also be a question and answer time with Dolly, and what always turns out to be a fantastic lunch for the press. I’ll get a few things up her for you guys while I’m gone.
Write when you can!
