The Academy of Country Music awards show was just on four days ago, and I could sit down and watch another three hours of country music entertainment already. Anyone else who is as anxious as I am to see another super show isn’t going to have to wait too long.
On April 6, a host of country music’s biggest stars gathered in Las Vegas to honor George Strait as the ACM Artist of the Decade. The show will air on CBS on May 27. The entertainers on hand to honor George included Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Miranda Lambert, Montgomery Gentry, LeeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, John Rich, and Jack Ingram. Oh yes, and Tim McGraw.
I really need to mention this again, because since Tim did not appear on the ACM’s on Sunday night, I have had literally hundreds of people arriving on Country’s Chatter because they “googled” Tim McGraw CMA… or Why wasn’t Tim McGraw at the CMAs… or CMA Tim McGraw.
First of all guys, this wasn’t the CMA (Country Music Association) awards, it was the ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards. (The CMA’s are in November). And secondly, I hope you weren’t disappointed when you put in your google inquiries and ended up on days when I posted things like “Tim McGraw not nominated for CMA award… or Tim McGraw to participate in CMA Music Festival”…. or other posts that put the words Tim McGraw and CMA in the same article.
But if there actually is anyone on the planet who really hasn’t heard about why Tim did not perform at the ACM awards (even though I mentioned this a few days ago)… here it is again.
Ok, one last time – Here’s why Tim McGraw wasn’t at the ACM Awards on Sunday night, April 5. According to a spokesperson for the singer, during the rehearsals for the show, there were some ‘creative differences’. What I heard was that Tim was scheduled to perform on the smaller stage, and he wanted on the big stage at the front of the auditorium. If there’s totally true, I don’t know…. but we do know that something happened that Tim wasn’t happy about, so he left. I’m not sure what kind of example that sets for the kids …. It’s kind of like saying “if you don’t play by my rules, I’m going to take my ball and go home.”
I was very glad to hear that he stayed around Las Vegas long enough to take part in the celebration for George Strait the next night.
You have to know that I’m going to close this one out with a George Strait video. And instead of the performance from the 2009 ACM award show, I’m going to give you the clip from the 2008 ACM show, which was on May 18, 2008 (George’s birthday); and it was “I Saw God Today,” which I love…. so here it is.
That’s all for now. Talk to you all soon. Thanks so much for your e-mail, I love hearing form you guys.
