I know you guys have been hearing me talk a lot about Randy Houser lately. That’s partly because he is going to be right here in Erwin, Tenn., next Tuesday night, headlining our Concert For A Cure benefit for our Relay For Life. Matt Stillwell will be opening for Randy, so if any of you in the area don’t have your tickets yet – be sure to call 423-743-4112 and get some put aside for you.
There’s another reason for me writing about Randy today, and that’s to tell you all that on April 27, his second video, “Boots On” was released to CMT. (Here’s Randy with his little “co-star” of the new video.)
For several weeks, country music fans have been watching and forwarding the hysterical YouTube video of 4-year-old Drake lip syncing Randy Houser’s new hit single “Boots On,” (currently in the Top 25 and is the fastest climbing single in the Top 25 by a new artist ). Drake’s nanny captured the young performer on video when he was in his car seat in the back of her vehicle. The toddler lip syncs and plays an incredible guitar….well, a plastic guitar. The video was seen by Universal Records South execs and like everyone else, they were amazed by Drake’s unique interpretation complete with facial expressions and lots of foot tapping.
CMT.com will premiere the video combining footage of Houser as well as footage from the original home video of Drake that was posted to YouTube. And if you haven’t seen it yet, here’s little Drake.
When it came time recently to shoot a music video for “Boots On” everyone agreed, including Randy, that Drake had to be a part of it. “When we saw the video, we knew we had to do something with it,” states Fletcher Foster, URS Senior VP/GM. “We had to incorporate Drake’s video somehow.” So Foster and video director Eric Welch came up with the idea to shoot Houser as if he is in the front seat of the car watching Drake in the back seat. Footage from the nanny’s video will be cut into the footage shot of Houser to make a complete video.
And here’s a little something extra–on site at the shoot it was discovered that both Houser and little Drake share the same birth date…different years of course. It’s Jan. 18.
You can see the premier of Randy’s “Boots On” here.
That’s all for now. Go and check out Randy’s new video. I hope when Drake grows up he learns how to sing, because it looks like he’s going to have a lot of stage presence, and I doubt he’d ever have to worry about stage fright.
You guys enjoy your day! Write when you can. As soon as I get past the concert, and a few other fund-raising events we have going on for our country Relay For Life, I’ll get all of you answered. Take care!
