Jimmy Wayne, who Pollstar has scheduled to be at our Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tenn., on Aug. 26 , will be releasing his newest single, “I’ll Be That,” on May 26. And, like all good little country artists – he has clips on his MySpace page. I like what I’ve heard, and I’m looking forward to that release date.
I’m still anxiously awaiting for “absolute confirmation” from the folks at our Fair. But so far, I’ve noticed if it gets on Pollstar, and if it gets on the artists web page or MySpace page, it usually happens. (And, Jimmy’s MySpace page puts him at our fair, too!)
I’m looking forward to seeing Jimmy at this year’s fair. I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing him perform live before, and I know he’s going to put on a great show.
I read his bio earlier this evening, and discovered that Jimmy is from Kings Mountain, N.C., about 2-1/2 hours or so from where I live (I’m in Northeast Tennessee, but only about 5 miles form the TN/NC border. I don’t know why I think that’s important. I guess sometimes I just have a tendency to ramble). Anyway, his debut album was released in 2003, and as many artists – it was a self-titled album. “Stay Gone” and “I Love You This Much” were both Top Ten on Billboard’s country charts.
His second album, “Do You Believe Me Now,” was released in August 2008, and the title track became Jimmy’s first Number One hit, late in 2008.
Jimmy’s birthday is Oct. 23 (just in case any of you like sending cards). I always like it when our entertainers have a birthday the day of )or very close to the day of) an appearance at our local fairs. There’s always a whole lot of fans with flowers, teddy bears, and other gifts to throw up on the stage. He will be in our area two months early for a birthday celebration — but regardless of when he’s coming, I think everyone is anxious to have him.
Here’s a little clip of Jimmy from People.com – it’s titled “Sexy and Single.” It’s from a while back, because he mentions in the video that his album “Do You Believe Me Now” would be released Aug. 26. That would have been Aug. 26, 2008. It’s still a good little video, and gives you a look at this talented young singer.
I better run along. Talk to you all real soon!
