For those of you in Nashville for this year’s CMA Music Festival, and for those of you on your way, here is the latest word on Carrie Underwood and the big concert at L.P. Field this year. Fans who might be wondering if Carrie will be on the stage this year can stop wondering. It looks like the answer to that question is ‘no’. No one seems to have it from an “official” source, but many entertainment web sites are reporting that Carrie is leaving Nashville for her mom’s birthday.
She was part of the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game last night. Carrie, along with Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, Chuck Wicks, Montgomery Gentry and James Otto were the first stars to step up to the plate. This was the 19th year for this annual fund raising celebrity event.
In addition to the celebrity softball game, The Starkey Hearing Foundation will be fitting more than 100 children and adults with hearing aids during the CMA Fest, at no cost. They are doing this with the help of Big Machine Records and Music City Merchandise. Chuck Wicks, Sunny Sweeney, Kate and Kacey, and other artists will be part of helping these people hear – many for the first time. (Chuck Wicks Photo: Jim Hagans/CMA)
If you are in Nashville, don’t forget the YMCA’s Celebrity Auction. Martina McBride will be hosting that event, and it is being held to benefit women and child victims of comestic violence. Items from more than 50 artists will be auctioned off, and they includd Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Charlie Daniels, Darius Rucker, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Jamey Johnson, John Prine, Keith Urban, Kellie Pickler, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Reba McIntire, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Wynonna.
Two of the many items up for bid include a hat autographed by Kenny Chesney, and at the right, a framed envelope from the CMA awards, announcing Brooks and Dunn as the winner … of course, it’s autographed, too.
We have Kenny’s hat ready for the auction … but does Nashville have Kenny for this year’s CMA Music Fest? Absolutely! The four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year will be the closing act at this year’s festival.
It all starts in just a few hours. I hope all of you going this year have a wonderful time … and I hope you’ll send me lots of pictures!
And, here’s how it looks when they’re putting it all together. That’s pretty impressive.
Time to run… If the weather holds up, I’ll probably be in Kingsport tonight, watching Jypsi in an outdoor concert on Broad Street. If the rain, thunder, lightning, hail, etc. end up coming this direction … I won’t be. Time will tell. Talk to you all soon!
