Tom Gossin, Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinert and Cheyenne Kimball… You know them better as Gloriana, and they’re about to release their debut CD, which features “Wild At Heart” and “The Way It Goes.” The release date is Aug. 4.
I listened to the album at least half a dozen times since I received it to review. It’s a good album, a nice mix of fast and slow. A lot of harmony, good melodies, and a bounce between male and female lead singers.
I don’t know the group well enough to know if it’s Mike or Tom singing the lead on “Change Your Mind,” but whoever it is, it’s good. And I have to say the same thing about “All The Things (That Mean The Most),” I have no idea if that’s Rachel or Cheyenne. But all that tells me is that all four of them are very talented singers.
These kids aren’t just singers, they’re also the band. Tom and Mike play guitar, and Rachel is on the mandolin. And they actually look like they’re having fun when they perform. I haven’t seen them live yet, but I have them on my list.
The 13 songs on this self-titled CD are “How Far Do You Wanna Go?”, “Wild At Heart",” “The Way It Goes,” “Lead Me On,” “If You’re Leavin’",” “You Said,” “Cry On command,” “Over Me Now,” “Come and Save Me,” “Even If I Wanted To,” “All the things (That Mean The Most)”, “Change Your Mind,” and “Time To Let Me Go.”
Not every CD I pick up is good from the beginning to the end. This one is. I didn’t really think of “Wild At Heart” as a country song. But this is definitely a country group. Sometimes when I listen to a new CD, I find myself picking out the one I would like to see the artist release as their next single. When I got done listening to this CD, I decided whatever one they pick would work for me. They’re all good songs.
This group has a lot on their tour schedule. In addition to shows at fairs, parks and amphitheaters… they are also touring with Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler, and have shows up just about everywhere through Oct. 9. You’ll want to check their web page for that list, so you can catch a show when they get somewhere near you. The tour schedule on their information filled MySpace page goes through early in December.
Here’s a clip of Gloriana at QDR 94.7 radio in Raleigh, N.C. , with an acoustical version of “Wild At Heart.”
That’s all for this morning. Time to get ready for work. I’ll talk to you guys real soon!
