I got an e-mail yesterday morning from Dave, in England. He writes to me on a regular basis – usually looking for info on one entertainer or another. And when he does, I always try to find out what he wants to know. Sometimes I just write back and tell him, some times I tell him here, in a blog post. In this e-mail, he wanted some information about Terri Clark’s upcoming CD.
I’m a big fan of Terri’s. I saw her show at our Fair in Gray, Tenn., a few yeas ago. She really put on a good show. So as you might expect, I’m anxiously awaiting the release of this one, too – so here you go, Dave. Here’s what I know about the CD, scheduled to release on Capitol Records/EMI Music Canada on Sept. 1, 2009.
The new album is called “Long Way Home,” and the first single from the CD is “Gypsy Boots.” Terri talked to Country Standard Time about the new album, and told them about the new single.
"It was this fun song I’d written that was kind of like my life," Terri said. "I started doing it in the shows acoustic – because it says a lot about who I am, where I come from… and the fans just went wild for it. So, wild that we decided to work it up with the band… People were coming up to the merch table asking when or how they could get it. It was completely organic, and also completely me."
"But the other thing about the song is that even though it’s specific to me or a traveling musician, it’s everybody. Everybody’s restless… everybody wants to have that moment when they’re completely free and rocking… where they’re totally alive, and I think people plugged in pretty hard on that vibe."
The CD features special guest appearances by Vince Gill and Johnny Reid. “Gypsy Boots” debuted at No. 42 on the country radio charts, and was the most added track at country radio in its first week out.
Terri has sold more than four million albums, and has nearly a dozen top 10 hits under her belt. She has toured with Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire and George Strait, and has been fan-voted Canadian Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year eight times; a CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee; and the first Canadian female country artist to be a member of The Grand Ole Opry.
“The Long Way Home” has 10 songs, in addition to “Gypsy Boots”. They are “If You Want Fire,” “A Million Ways To Run,”, What Happens in Vegas (Follows You Home)”, “Merry Go Round,” “The One You Love” (featuring Vince Gill), ‘Poor Girls Dream,” “If I Could Be You,” “Tough With Me,” “You Tell Me” (duet with Johnny Reid); and “a bonus track of “Gypsy Boots acoustic demo version.
Here’s a little interview Mike McGuire, at CISN 103.9 FM, did with Terri recently.
There you go Dave, a little Terri Clark to start your day. If any of the rest of you have anything you’d like to see here, just let me know. I’ll do my very best to get it up for you. You guys have a great Sunday, and write soon!
