I have a question. What’s better than going to your local fair and finding an entertainer who puts on an awesome show; takes the time to visit with his fans; comes out to the radio station tent for an interview; and really seems to enjoy what he is doing for the people who love his music?
The answer is going to your local fair and finding FOUR entertainers who put on an awesome show; take the time to visit with their fans; come out to the radio station tent for an interview; and really seem to enjoy what they’re doing for the people who love their music! And where would someone find four entertainers like this? The answer to that question comes in three words – Eli Young Band! (EYB pictured above with WXBQ Program Director, Bill Hagy, and afternoon deejay, Marc Tragler)
Mike Eli is an amazing vocalist. He has a sound that is absolutely his own. James Young is the lead guitar player, Jon Jones plays bass, and Chris Thompson is the drummer. There is nothing I can say about their musical talent, except that they definitely all have it! It was great seeing their performance. Everyone there absolutely enjoyed every minute of the show. And to those of you who weren’t there, you have no idea what you missed last night.
These guys were one of my contests a while back, when Universal South provided me with several copies of their Jet Black and Jealous CD to give my readers as contest prizes. I quickly discovered how many EYB fans are out there! Seems everyone wanted a copy of that CD.
Now it’s time to click on “Read the rest of this entry” below to see more pictures from tonight’s Fair.
Eli Young Band will be joining Gary Allen on his Get Off on the Pain Tour this fall. They will have a show in Dallas on Oct. 24, and one in Lincoln Neb., on Nov. 6 – with more information coming soon. Be sure to check out their web site for a whole list of shows between now and Oct. 24.
Now, let me close with a little personal message to Mike, James, Jon and Chris … Remember, my name is Country, not “stalker” as Marc Tragler might have wanted you to believe. Hope to see you guys again soon. Your show was great! Thanks for the pictures, thanks for the autographs, and thanks for that fantastic show!
Walker Hayes opened last night’s show for Ely Young Band. He’s a very nice kid, and you can learn more about him, and listen to some of his music by clicking here. He was recently added to Capitol Records roster. Many of the songs on his web site are available to download for free. that’s pretty cool.
That’s all for this morning. Tonight we have Jimmy Wayne coming to the fair, so check back tomorrow for pictures from his night at the Appalachian Fair.
