julianne-hough Julianne Hough was recently named as one of five new additions to the American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet. This group of entertainers help promote the Red Cross services by giving their time, helping with disasters, and just being wherever they are needed.

JulianneH Also named to the group are Anika Noni, a Tony Award winner; Demi Lovato, one of the stars from the Disney Channel; Sally Pressman, an “Army Wives” actress; and actress Amanda Peet.

“The American Red Cross runs on the valuable service of volunteers to fulfill our mission, and we are grateful that these celebrities are setting an example by volunteering their time and talents to help raise awareness of our work in responding to disasters, providing blood, helping military members and their families and promoting preparedness through first aid or CPR classes,” states Gail McGovern, President and CEO of American Red Cross.

“I am honored to be a part of the American Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet and help support an organization that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war and aid to victims of devastating natural disasters. Being part of this amazing organization will provide me with an opportunity to join its efforts to help others and encourage the American public to become involved with their local Red Cross and make a difference,” said Julianne.

Other country artists who have served on this Celebrity Cabinet are Keith Urban and Joe Don Rooney.

Alan-Jackson-01 Alan Jackson was recently at a special Meet & Greet, with children and their families from Easter Seals in La Salle and Bureau Counties in Illinois. While he was there, he met Corvin Berg, who is 3, and Corvin’s mom and grandmother.

Alan-Jackson-cm01 Alan was so impressed with all the work Easter Seals had done, and the difference it made in Corvin’s life, as well as the lives of other children in the area – that he decided to lend a helping hand… a financial helping hand.

Alan donated $20,000 to the organization, to make up for what they had come up short in their 2009 fund raising goals.

I know all of our country artists are out there helping other people. They are always at events to raise money, they always give generously of their time and talent, and yet, I wonder if we realize just how much they give. The people who received this money from Alan said “This is a miracle. Thank you so much to Alan from the children and families of Easter Seals”.

Here’s a clip from an interview with Julianne and Chuck Wicks, back when they were on Dancing With the Stars.

That’s all for now. I hope you have a good Sunday. I’ll talk to you all real soon. Today is Sunday – time to relax, and answer e-mail. If you haven’t written for a while, please do. It’s always great hearing from you.
