One of our Appalachian Fair entertainers, Nick Nicholson, now has a YouTube Channel. Nick will be opening for Jimmy Fortune at the fair on Saturday night, Aug. 29. I’ve been talking about Nick for quite some time, and with his YouTube Channel, you can all go and check him out before fair week.
Nick is originally from Gray, Tenn., and lives in Arizona now. It’s going to be great getting him back to this area for the show at the fair in Gray in August. I really hope everyone in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia will head on over to the fair grounds on Saturday night, Aug. 29, for his 7 p.m. show, and help me in welcoming Nick back home! There are a lot of people out there who went to school with Nick, and I know they will want to be at the show that night.
Over the past few years, Nick has opened for the Bellamy Brothers, headlined the preshow for Carrie Underwood’s concert at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale; joined Mark Wills and Paula Trickey at a charity poker tournament to benefit the families of fallen law enforcement officers; performed the preshow and sang the national anthem for the Phoenix Sun’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers; opened for Trent Tomlinson at The Museum Club in Flagstaff, Ariz.; and the list goes on.
His first single, “Somethin’, Somethin’,” has gotten some air play on radio stations across the country, but not nearly to the extent I think it should. It’s a good song, and I’d love for more people to get to hear it.
His bio says his singing style was inspired by singers like Ray Charles, Conway Twitty, Travis Tritt, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elvis, and his dad “Big Al.” He says he’s comfortable in any genre of music, and describes his music as Rockin’ Country.
Here’s a video of Nick at one of his performances at Toby Keith’s ‘”I Love This Bar& Grill.” I think that’s what Toby’s restaurants are called. At any rate – here’s Nick.
If you don’t already have your tickets for the Appalachian Fair, give them a call! That’s all for now… talk to you later!
