Our 2009 Appalachian Fair is off to a roaring start! Last night, we had Randy Houser on the Main Stage at our fair in Gray, Tenn. Have any of you ever seen this guy in concert? He’s amazing. This is the third time I’ve seen Randy, and it for sure won’t be the last. He is without a doubt one of today’s most talented country singers. He has a great voice, fantastic stage presence, he’s an awesome entertainer, and a genuinely fantastic person. Are you getting the idea I really think a lot of this guy?
Before the show, Randy did a little live interview with WXBQ‘s 3-8 p.m. deejay, Marc Tragler. Marc always does his show from the fairgrounds during fair week. I’m sure it’s a fun week for Tragler, and I know all of his radio fans enjoy having him out at the fairgrounds with them.
If things work out the way I am hoping they will, I’ll be seeing Randy in about 3 weeks at the Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville. That one will be on Sept. 15. Randy has a lot of fairs lined up this year. He’ll be over in Fletcher, N.C., at the North Carolina Mountain State Fair on Sept. 16. But let’s finish August first … On Aug. 29, Randy will be at the Winterville Watermelon Festival in Winterville, N.C. Now how much fun would that be! He’s keeping busy, and you can check out all of his tour dates, through Nov. 7, on his web site.
After the radio interview, Randy signed a few autographs, talked to some of the fans, and then headed back stage to get ready for the Meet & Greet. And whatever it was the fans wanted signed, Randy seemed ready to put his pen to the paper … or whatever.
During the show, we heard a lot of our favorite Randy Houser songs, and some of his favorite songs, too. And, he laughed for us. Seems he gets tickled rather easily, and with that great giggle of his, you just can’t help but laugh along.
Randy is a very special person. And I know we’ll be seeing a lot of him in the future. And now, it’s picture time. Click on “Read the rest of this entry” below, to see more photos from last night’s show.
That’s all for now – tonight, we have Eli Young Band coming to town. And, opening for them will be newcomer, Walker Hayes. Talk to you all soon! Have a great Tuesday! And drop me a line when you can! Thanks!
