I don’t even want to think about yesterday, at least not the part where I woke up late, rushed to get to work, stayed busy at work all day, then had an appointment, was running late for everything all day … and somehow … here it comes, the good part… I actually got to Bristol in time to see Chris Young at the Walmart. He was promoting his new CD, sang a few songs, signed autographs, posed for pictures, and was just being the fantastic young man that he is!
If you missed the review of his show I put up in August of 2008, click here. Because what I said then, I could pretty much say here. He is still the down to earth, likeable, friendly kid that he was little more than a year ago.
On both occasions I got to spend several hours with him while he was doing the autograph/picture thing. It wasn’t your normal “flash and dash”, like most signings are. I watched him interact with his fans, joke with them, talk to them, answer questions for them, and pretty much be there to take action on any request. Two people had him sing Happy Birthday to them, they video taped it for a keepsake. The fans love him. And I can understand why. He’s easy to be around, and a fun person.
The new CD is titled “The Man I Want to Be.” He’s got a duet with Willie Nelson, “Rose In Paradise;” “Rainy Night in Georgia,” which he does really great; “The Man I Want to Be,” my favorite on the CD; and of course, “Gettin’ You Home,” which I think most of us call The Black Dress Song. The other songs on the CD are “That Makes Me,” “Voices,” “The Dashboard,” “It Takes A Man,” “The Shoebox,” and “Twenty-One Candles.”
Chris got to stick his hand in the carton full of entry slips, and draw out the winner of a guitar, autographed by Chris, of course. The winner was Kim Brown from Virginia. Way to go, Kim!
This was definitely a night for pictures, so click on “Read the rest of this entry” below to see more photos from Chris Young’s visit to our Bristol, Va., Walmart.
That will do it for this time. I love these Walmart visits. And I’m really glad I was able to get to Bristol last night to spend a little time with Chris Young. Time to get ready for work. I’ll talk to you all soon. Write to me. I love getting your mail!
Later!
