I really like Phil Vassar, I have since the first time I heard “Carlene,” and of course continued liking him since the first time I saw him. That was at a Walmart promoting his first CD. Hard to believe his new single is from his fifth CD, “Traveling Circus”. The CD will be in stores in November.
I’ve been fortunate to see Phil in concert many times. He’s just talented. He’s also a fun person, and a very nice guy, too.
"This is the first song Jeffery Steele and I wrote together," Vassar said. "We all experience loss in our lives. And this is a song about loss and how certain things can trigger memories both good and bad. Sometimes you can’t avoid the memories flooding back to you. Those memories can make you smile and make you cry and everything in between."
Phil’s website says he spent the summer touring, and did shows in Washington, D.C. and New York that included some new songs. When you look at the schedule on his website, you’ll quickly discover that his touring is not over for this year. He has shows listed through Nov. 20, 2009, and even has one lined up already for Feb. 13, 2010 – that will be in Stroudsburg, Pa. Be sure to check out that list to see when he will be near you, and grab your tickets. Anyone who likes Phil’s music, but has never seen him in concert really needs to make a point to do that. As if his singing isn’t enough – you should watch this guy play the piano. He’s a great musician.
Here is a very cute little interview with a kid, Christopher Nusbaum, who calls his network IIIWKC (Ideas in Writing Kids’ Club). The little kid asked some really good questions. I work for a newspaper, and sometimes I have a problem coming up with the right things to ask. But he did a good job. Enjoy!
I need to run. Time to get ready for church, then a quick lunch at the local Chinese restaurant, and then – I’m off to Gatlinburg. It will be a quick trip, I have a little business to take care of down there, and then …. back home and back to work tomorrow. Could we all vote and make weekends three days instead of two? I always have too much stuff I need to do when the weekend is over!
Anyway, I’ll talk to you all soon! Have a good Sunday!
Talk to you soon!
