I told you all a few days ago that Joe Nichols will be releasing his sixth album on Oct. 27. The album title is called “Old Things New.” And, one of the songs on the new CD will be Joe’s 2005 hit, “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off.” But apparently it’s going to be a bit different this time.
Joe has asked Colt Ford to be a part of the project, adding a new beat to the 2005 song. Colt, if there’s anyone out there who doesn’t know this, is a country rapper. And while I’ve never been a fan of rap music, I think Colt is a pretty cool guy. The first CD of Colt’s that I heard was “Ride Through the Country.” I quickly discovered how many Colt fans are out there when I had a contest to give away Colt gear to five lucky winners. I was swamped with entries, and had some very happy winners.
Colt’s “Country is as Country Does” CD/DVD is on sale now, exclusively at Walmart. I think my favorite part of that whole thing is the “No Trash in my Trailer” video. The CD includes the songs “Day in the Life”, written by Jamey Johnson and featuring Andy Griggs. I also liked “Dirt Road Anthem.” I really can’t say much about Colt’s music though. He’s pretty much a guy that you are all going to have to listen to, and decide what you think of him and his music.
I’ll be seeing Colt in Johnson City on Nov. 20. He’s opening for Jason Aldean at Freedom Hall. I am sure this is going to be a great show. And all of you Colt Ford fans, get ready, we might have something autographed to give away after that show!
I’m looking forward to hearing the the remade “Tequila” song. "It was a real honor when Joe asked us to do a remix of ‘Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off’ because it is such a great Country song," Ford said. "Joe has one of my favorite voices in Country Music so I really wanted to make the remix a fun song, and I think we did that.”
Country Hound tells us that the only thing different about the song will be a new, energetic beat that will excite any kind of crowd. An exclusive copy is being shipped to dance clubs all over the country to promote the album. And, a “Tequila” line dance is also in the works. They also are saying there will be national contests based on the song.
Joe was in Akron, Ohio, last night at the 10th Annual concert for Breast Cancer awareness Month. He will be in Nashville tomorrow night, and then heads to Tyler, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 24. Be sure to visit Joe’s web site to keep up with his shows.
In addition to the show in Johnson City, Tenn., on Nov. 20, Colt has a whole list of dates on his web site. You’ll want to have a look at his web page and see is he’s coming anywhere near you. In addition to Tennessee, North Carolina, Mississippi and Georgia, he’s going to be in Washington, Oregon and California! Between now and January 15, 2010, there are a whole bunch of Colt Ford shows you can pick from!
I better get moving. Time to get myself ready for work. Hope you guys have a great Wednesday! I’ll talk to you all soon. Hope to get your e-mail answered tonight!
