Time to tell you all about the second half of Friday night at the Paramount. Easton Corbin took the stage, and really did a great job. I know it can’t be easy to perform with only a guitar and an accompanist – but that’s what Easton did. I think you quickly find out who can sing and who can’t, when there’s only a guitar or two behind them. And, we found out that Easton can definitely sing.
Most people aren’t familiar with Easton, except for his great debut single and video, “A Little More Country Than That.” But any of you who have been to his MySpace page have also heard, “I Can’t Love You Back,” “Roll With It,” and “The Way Love Looks.”
He never took guitar lessons until he was 15 years old. His bio tells us he practiced for hours every day after school. To watch him play, I’m sure that’s the truth. He looks very comfortable on stage, and obviously enjoys performing.
Easton is a south Florida native, and graduated from the College of Agriculture at the University of Florida. He and his wife, Brinn, got married on Sept. 2, 2006, and in October, they moved to Nashville. “I always knew I wanted to move up here. There was never any question about it, I didn’t want to wake up one day and wish I would have tried, but I had to get my education first so I had something to fall back on.”
He was certainly able to keep everyone’s attention as he performed with the help of his accompanist Alex Gallagher. He can be proud of the show he did on Friday in Bristol. He said he always wanted to be a country singer. My response to that is Easton, you picked the right career.
It was good to get to see him interact with his fans after the show, too. He’s friendly, outgoing, and seemed more than willing to give his fans whatever attention they needed – posing for pictures, talking to them, and of course signing autographs. I hope these new country artists always remember how important that is.
I’m going to get a few more pictures up here of Easton and the fans from Friday night’s show. Just click on “Read the rest of this entry” below to see the pictures. And be sure to visit Easton’s MySpace page.
I have had a very long, very tiring weekend. Hopefully, I’m somehow rested enough to start another work week. I really have to say thanks again, to WXBQ Radio for their part in bringing this show to the fans in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. It was a great night, and everyone really enjoyed seeing these new country artists.
I better get going. You guys have a good Monday! I’ll talk to you soon!
